Dark Green Portfolio Layout

Step 1

Open up a new document 800x800px, fill the background with #232522. Create a new layer and name it 'banner bg', and make a selection 800x150px at the top of the document, set your foreground and background colours to #181818 and #0a0a0a and apply Filter > Render > Clouds. Make another layer or two and put different grunge brushes on them. On the top layer (if you have made two new layers) set the Blending Mode to Screen, change the opacities to suite. Add some text in the lower right corner, I used the font Grapple BRK, regular, 30px, none, #d8e136.

Step 2

Make a new layer named 'links bg' and make a selection 800x60px under the 'banner bg' layer. Using the gradient tool make a gradient from #cfd904 to #1b7416, and apply an Outer Glow. Create a new layer named 'links bg shine' and make a selection 800x30px on the top half of the 'links bg' layer and fill with #ffffff, lower the opacity to 20%. Add some text for the links. Make a new layer named 'link seperators' and zoom in a lot, and make a selection 1x60px and fill with #000000, and move your selection one pixel to the left and fill with #ffffff, now lower the opacity to about 20%.

Step 3

Create a new layer named 'content bg' and make a selection 650x500px in the middle of the space left. Fill this with #21251f. Make a 1px outline 1px inwards from the outside and hit delete. Apply an Outer Glow.

Step 4

We are now just going to put in all the fill-in text, my heading is Tahoma, Bold, 18px, strong, #d8e136. For the main text I have Tahoma, Bold, 11pt, none, #f4f4f4. And for the footer I have Tahoma, Regular (Bold for the site name), 11pt, none, #ffffff, Blending Mode: Overlay.
